Well, thank you for checking in with me. This will be a weekly post. A way for you my readers to get to know me. You can always email me and ask your own questions either on here or on my Facebook page. I will do other posts weekly that I hope you will enjoy. I promise to keep the content full of life and raw and real as I possibly can. I will cover fun things, sad things, the truth about dating, reviews for places we travel, all the things we find fun and things we just can't wait to share.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
I would probably do things I love and miss doing as a single mom. Things like catching up on my reading, knit, bake, work on one of my zillion photobooks on Shutterfly, and last but not least, browse Pinterest for fun crafts, home decor ideas, trip ideas, and photography inspiration!
What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
I would get into weaving where I would have a large loom and make beautiful scarfs and rugs, table cloths. I once went to a lady's home that had one and I really wanted to do this hobby since seeing her room.
What fictional place would you most like to go to?
I would say that I would want to go to Narnia, this was one of my favorite books, I have always wanted to go through a closet and escape. It would be so nice to have an adventure right through your closet. I think this will be one of the audiobooks I download to listen to with the boys this summer.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning the gold medal for?
I would probably say “Packing and unpacking a home”. I can pack and move my house realistically, done, and set up in about 7 days... I wish I were joking. When I was married, we moved about 21 times in 15 years! Let us not get into that but I can certainly move a house and make a home in a week. I even thought about doing it for a business.
What are two of your favorite rooms in your house?
Without a doubt, I love my bedroom (well not right now because I share it with the boys!) So, it’s a little cramped right now but I love my bedroom and love that to decorate it to suit my boho romantic side. The next is the kitchen because the kitchen is the heart of the home for my family, every special occasion and holiday starts with the food in the kitchen, the planning, and love that goes into each lovely memory I have.
What are some small things that make your day better?
Getting hugs and kisses from the boys, a day where they listen more then they do normally. A picture that I find on my nightstand that F sets there for me to find. A day that B makes me a Lego figure. A few moments to myself to read in the sunshine on the front porch with an ice-cold drink. A talk with my dad for ten minutes when he is at work and we are home. To do a little craft like cross-stitch or knit a little….and always finding that writing sweet spot of a chapter in my book.
Who is your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
Oh boy, this is a hard one. If you see my playlist, you will laugh. Right now I love anything by Julia Michaels,Lily Allen, Kacey Musgraves. Of course, I will not turn down anything Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Queen, Poe, Beatles, Depesh mode, Jack Johnson, The Who, The Cars, Heart….. I am a huge Indie music lover, anything Acoustic. I also enjoy old country music, Kenny, Dolly, Patsy, you cannot go wrong with Hank, Willey, or Mr. Cash either. I also bust out gangster rap in the kitchen when I am making dinner for the boys! Nothing like a little Tupac or Biggie. To say my music taste is all over the board is an understatement.
How often do you people watch and where are you when you people watch? I love to people watch, I love being at a lunch date with one of my besties and trying to figure out what their stories of a couple next to us. No truer entertainment is going to Walmart, sporting events, and of course the beach or any pool that is open in Vegas. My mom and I have always enjoyed people watching.
What’s the farthest you’ve ever traveled from home? I have gone to Florida; I know that might be a little lame. I have a travel bucket list and hope to check off so many things in the next few years! Starting with the East Coast, traveling to Europe, and seeing where my dad's father's side comes from. I look forward to going to Paris someday, Greece, Ireland, and Scotland. Just so many things I can’t wait to do and take the boys to.
If you could be a Disney Princess who would you be and why? I would love to say someone like Belle, with a brave soul and a lovely library but I am more of a sleeping beauty because well duh I love to sleep. Little Mermaid would have been my first choice in the past for being willing to do anything for a man including giving up my natural God-given gifts like my voice or my legs, I think in real life there have been many times I have given up way more than that.
This new me is not doing that. In fact, I am not waiting for a prince charming to come swoop down and rescue me, I now know I can rescue myself. I don’t need a man; I am raising two. If someone comes in my life, I promise this, he will be my equal and bring certain things to the table, I know what I bring and now I am no longer afraid of eating alone. So I guess now my second choice other than Sleeping beauty would have to be Rapunzel because she went through hell to become brave enough to be her own person and Flynn Ryder is hot and a compliment, not something she needed to be rescued to be with but someone that helped her find her way. That right there is a true Prince.
